The entered public URL is sent to our server for checking. Private network addresses are rejected.

Checks HTTP destinations only. Blocked, timed-out, and failed requests are inconclusive; 404/410 responses are reported separately.

Review a small set of links from one public page before publishing or updating it. The Broken Link Checker extracts HTTP destinations from source anchors, deduplicates them, and checks up to 15 within a bounded request budget.

How to Use Broken Link Checker

  1. Enter the public page containing the links you want to review.
  2. Run the bounded check and note how many unique destinations were tested.
  3. Investigate 404/410 findings separately from blocked or unverified requests.
  4. Replace or update confirmed problem links and review their final content manually.

Find link destinations that need attention

The result lists the supplied page links, anchor text, HTTP response, and final destination when available. It identifies 404 and 410 responses separately from successful destinations and request failures. Other error or blocked responses need a contextual review rather than an automatic broken-link conclusion.

Example: check references in an article

Run the tool after replacing several reference links in a guide. Review not-found or gone responses, then confirm whether the referenced resource moved or should be replaced. For redirected links, check that the final content still supports the article rather than assuming any successful response is the right source.

Understand the bounded coverage

This is a one-page sample of HTTP anchor destinations, not a complete website crawl. It does not test every image, stylesheet, email address, or JavaScript-generated link. A time limit can reduce the number of checked destinations, and inaccessible or timed-out requests are reported as unverified.

Use the Link Analyzer for anchor and rel review in pasted HTML. Use the Redirect Checker for a specific suspicious destination, or the Website Crawl Report for a small page-level metadata crawl.
