A transparent view of domain link strength

Compare a domain’s position in Common Crawl’s link graph using our published formula. This is FreeTools Authority Score, independent of Moz DA and PA.

A page URL is mapped to its registrable domain. This tool provides a domain score, not a page score. The input is sent to our server for a local dataset lookup; no website or external API is contacted.

Partial coverage: missing domains receive “insufficient data,” not zero. This subset favors domains with higher harmonic-centrality ranks. Graph data is historical and incomplete; the tool does not check current site availability, count all backlinks, or assess spam.

How the score works

For each signal, we convert the domain’s rank in the full graph to a logarithmic 0–100 index. Rank 1 maps to 100; the last graph rank maps to 0.

H = 100 × (1 − log10(harmonic rank) / log10(graph domains))
P = 100 × (1 − log10(PageRank rank) / log10(graph domains))
FreeTools Authority Score = round(0.60 × H + 0.40 × P, 1)

The 60/40 weights are our heuristic choice. Formula checks establish bounds, consistency, and monotonicity; they do not validate prediction of rankings. Compare scores from the same graph snapshot and method version. Technical SEO health is assessed separately by our On-Page SEO Checker.

Explore a domain link-graph index with an openly published method. FreeTools Authority Score uses Common Crawl harmonic-centrality and PageRank ranks from a local historical dataset, then displays the source ranks, method version, snapshot, and coverage alongside the result.

How to Use FreeTools Authority Score

  1. Enter a domain or an HTTP/HTTPS page URL.
  2. Review which registrable domain is used for the lookup.
  3. Check whether the domain is covered, then inspect the snapshot and source ranks.
  4. Download the report and compare only with results from the same method and snapshot.

Understand this independent authority prototype

FTAS-1 converts each domain rank into a logarithmic 0–100 component relative to the full source graph. It combines the harmonic-centrality component at 60% and the PageRank component at 40%, then rounds the result to one decimal place. Those weights are a heuristic choice, not a trained ranking model.

Example: a covered domain in a fixed snapshot

In the bundled July–September 2026 graph, google.com has harmonic-centrality rank 3 and PageRank rank 2. The FTAS-1 result is 95.0 for that snapshot. This example describes our calculation from the source data; it is not a Moz score or an assessment of every Google property.

Check coverage before comparing domains

The prototype includes the top 100,000 domains by harmonic-centrality rank from a graph of 133,241,980 domains. Many smaller or less-connected websites are outside that local subset. They receive insufficient data and no number. Absence does not establish zero backlinks or poor quality. Page URLs and subdomains are mapped to a registrable domain, so this is not a page authority checker.

Compare results only within the same snapshot and method. Historical graph ranks do not verify current availability, link quality, spam, or search performance. Source context is available in the Common Crawl graph documentation. For implementation issues on a page, use the separate On-Page SEO Checker or Website Crawl Report.

Key Features

  • Local Common Crawl snapshot lookup
  • Published FTAS-1 formula
  • Snapshot date and partial-coverage disclosure
  • Registrable-domain normalization
  • Downloadable JSON report

Common Use Cases

  • Exploring public link-graph data
  • Comparing covered domains
  • Transparent authority research

Privacy

Your entered domain is sent to our server for a local snapshot lookup. It is not sent to Common Crawl or a commercial API, and the entered website is not fetched.

Limitations

This is a prototype with a partial top-ranked domain subset. Missing domains receive insufficient data and no numerical score. Weights are heuristic and have not been validated against search rankings. Results are independent of Moz DA and PA and cannot be compared directly with those metrics.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this Moz Domain Authority or Page Authority?
No. It is FreeTools Authority Score, an independent experimental domain-level index with a published formula.
Why does my website show insufficient data?
The local prototype covers a top-ranked subset. Missing domains are unknown in that subset and are not given a zero score.
Does a high score prove a website is trustworthy or will rank well?
No. The method has not been validated as a ranking predictor and does not assess spam, factual quality, or trustworthiness.
Does it contact a paid API or fetch the website?
No. The lookup reads a bundled local graph record. The entered website is not fetched.
