Compare two passages to inspect shared wording before publishing or merging drafts. The Content Comparison Tool reports word counts, unique-word overlap, and repeated five-word passages using only the texts you provide.
How to Use Content Comparison Tool
- Paste the first passage and the text you want to compare with it.
- Run the comparison to see word counts and unique-word overlap.
- Read the repeated five-word passages in their original context.
- Revise unnecessary duplication while preserving accurate terminology and meaning.
Inspect similarities between supplied drafts
The tool calculates Jaccard overlap between the sets of normalized unique words. It also lists exact normalized five-word sequences found in both passages and their occurrence counts. These two views can help distinguish broad vocabulary overlap from longer repeated wording.
Example: repeated phrasing with a different meaning
Two sentences about watering a garden can share most of their words while differing on whether watering happens daily or weekly. A high overlap percentage therefore does not establish that the passages communicate the same facts. Review the shared sequences and read both texts in context.
Use the result for editorial review
Compare two versions of a service page, repeated introductions, or draft sections that may need more distinct wording. The checker does not search websites, identify an original author, or determine plagiarism. Common terminology and necessary instructions can produce legitimate overlap.
Use the Content Readability Checker after revising a draft and the Keyword Density Checker for repetition within one passage.
